WOW Air has purchased four new Airbus A321 aircraft, which will be ready for delivery next year and in 2018, mbl.is reports. The price for the aircraft is ISK 55 billion (USD 448 million, EUR 403 million). The new purchase will bring the company’s number of aircraft to 17 next year, eight of which will be fully owned by WOW.
Only recently, WOW purchased three new Airbus A330-300 jumbo jets, but all the company’s fleet is from Airbus. WOW Air’s fleet is quite new, with the average age of the aircraft a mere 2 and a half years.
CEO Skúli Mogensen commented, “We’re pleased to add brand new Airbus A321 aircraft to our rapidly growing fleet. WOW Air is becoming one of the most robust low fare airlines in the world, and we look forward to continued growth and to thriving in cooperation with Airbus.”
