A foreign tourist is seriously injured after falling down 30-50 m (98-164 ft) by Sólheimajökull glacier, RÚV reports.

Rescue workers from Hella to Vík í Mýrdal, South Iceland, were called out shortly before 2 pm after a man had fallen down a hill east of Sólheimajökull glacier.

He is seriously injured, including head injuries, and it was hard for rescue teams to reach him. He was given first aid and transported by the Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter to Landspítali National University Hospital.
