Five thousand guests and 1,000 volunteers are expected to participate in the 15th World Scout Moot, to be held in Southwest Iceland next year. It will be the largest event organized by Icelandic scouts so far. The moot will take place July 24-August 2 next year for participants aged 18-25 from 80 countries around the world.
It is and official event of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, hosted and organized by the Icelandic Boy and Girl Scout Association.
The plan is to have camp sites spread around the southern and western parts of the country, Vísir reports. At each one of them, there will be 200-400 scouts, participating in a program related to the outdoors, nature and culture of the area, in addition to participating in community service.
The moot will culminate in a gathering for all the groups at Úlfljótsvatn lake. Preparation has already been underway for five years.
