Guðlaug Björnsdóttir owner of the self-service fishing shop, at Strandgata in Tálknafjörður, in the West Fjords, told Iceland Review, that everyone pays for what they purchase, in the small shop with no staff, and no security camera, and no police around.

The biggest selling items are cod, and harðfiskur, dried stock fish, a true delicacy.

Around half of her customers, are tourists, on their way to the village campsite, and swimming pool, just west of the picturesque village.
