The Youth’s Rock Festival will be held for the first time at KEX Hostel, Reykjavík, this Sunday. The festival includes live music as well as interactive education and workshops where kids get to play instruments made of fruit, make their own microphones, play electrical music and more.
Among those who perform in KEX’ Book Corner are Hildur, RuGl, Hasar Basar, Meistarar Dauðans and Hush Hush. In the multi-functional Gym & Tonic hall, Stelpur Rokka, Futuregrapher, Skema, Jónsson & LeMacks, Mussila and others will have presentations and conduct workshops. The festival is organized by Heimilislegir sunnudagar (Homy Sundays) and Stelpur rokka (Girls Rock).
Stelpur rokka is an organization of volunteers whose goal it is to support girls in their creative work. In the past four years, 275 girls and women have participated in rock camps organized by the organization and formed 60 bands.
The program begins at 1 pm and concludes at 4:30 pm.
