Rebecca Cathrine Kaad Ostenfeld, farmer at Hólar in Hvammsveit, Dalir, West Iceland, became world famous after a picture of a letter she received last spring was shared on Reddit two days ago. The letter both lacked her name and address, but was still delivered.
According to the website, the picture had been viewed almost 5 million times in 24 hours. Rebecca’s story caught the attention of the international media, and yesterday she received calls from the BBC, an online media in Denmark and a newspaper in New York. Other media have also covered the story, including Der Spiegel in Germany.
“It’s so much fun. It’s totally amazing. I’m framing the letter,” Rebecca told RÚV. After her story was first published in the Icelandic media, including on icelandreview.com, Rebecca received a postcard from a Russian who wanted to check whether it would also be delivered without a name and an address. It was.
“I sent him a letter back and drew Moscow on the letter … But I wrote the address, too, of course,” Rebecca revealed. “I hope that I will receive more postcards. It shows how beautiful the world can be.”
