More than 200 people are busy preparing for Canadian pop star Justin Bieber’s concerts in Kórinn, Kópavogur, to be held tomorrow and Friday, RÚV reports. The concerts mark the beginning of Bieber’s Purpose World Tour. Friday’s concert is sold out, but some tickets are still available for tomorrow. Nineteen thousand beliebers, as Bieber’s fans are called, have a chance to attend each concert, making them the largest musical events in Icelandic history.
Every effort is made to ensure a memorable performance. RÚV reported on Monday that the star had insisted a hot tub be installed back-stage at Kórinn.
From here, Bieber will go to Germany, but what made him choose to start his tour in Iceland?
Chris Gratton, the concerts’ main organizer, was interviewed by Fréttablaðið. He explained, “The reason we chose Iceland is that Justin himself asked for these concerts. He came here last year when her shot the video to the song ‘I’ll Show You” and was fascinated by the country… He loves Iceland and that’s the only country he chose. The reason is simple; he wanted to play here.”
Gratton stated, “There are forty members of his team who come to the country. In addition, we’re in great cooperation with the team here, which will direct the concerts with us. The people on the team here work really well and they’re great to work with.”
