Yesterday afternoon, the body of a man was accidentally discovered near the Askja caldera, in the Icelandic highlands, RÚV reports. According to the Húsavík Police, a French tourist found the body at the northernmost part of the caldera. Foul play is not suspected.
The body was transported to Húsavík, North Iceland, and will be be sent to Reykjavík where an autopsy is to be performed. The deceased carried an identification, so his name and nationality are known. He was a foreign tourist. No further information is available.
