A new poll by MMR shows the Pirate Party and the Independence party running neck and neck, each with 22.7 percent of voters’ support. The Reform Party, established in May, gets 11.5 percent support, or 2.7 percent more than in MMR’s last poll, conducted August 29.

Other parties’ support is similar to what it was in the last poll: The Progressive Party receives 11 percent, the Social Democratic Alliance gets 8.1 percent, Bright Future 4.1 percent and the Left-Green Movement 13.2 percent. The Icelandic National Front enjoys 2.2 percent support, Dawn gets 1.4 percent and other parties less.

The poll shows the government enjoying 34.5 percent support, compared with 35.6 in MMR’s last poll.

The poll was conducted September 12-19. Respondents were 905, all 18 and older, randomly selected from a pool of MMR respondents.

Parliamentary elections in Iceland are planned for October 29.
