US actor Ben Affleck confirmed this week that he will be part of the filming of scenes for the movie Justice League, to be done in Djúpavík, the West Fjords, RÚV reports. Affleck plays Batman in the film.
He confirmed this today on the talk show Live with Kelly, where he said he’d be going to Iceland for a couple of days. In addition, the Boston Globe writes this morning that Affleck will be in Iceland this weekend.
The film crew of Justice League has taken over Djúpavík. Driving through the village with cameras is forbidden during filming, since the crew doesn’t want information to leak out regarding the set.
On October 3, Hótel Djúpavík director, Eva Sigurbjörnsdóttir, stated that everything was closed in the village and all rooms booked for the next two or three weeks. About 50 people from the Djúpavík Theater Company will have walk-on parts in the film.
The cost of shooting the film in Iceland is close to ISK half a billion (USD 4.4 million, EUR 3.9 million).
