Voter turnout in Mjóifjörður, the East Fjords, was 100 percent, RÚV reports. By 5 pm, the polling station had closed and the ballot box had been sent out for counting.

There are 18 registered voters in Mjóifjörður, a village of about 30 residents, one of whom is not in town today. She is on her way abroad, but made sure to vote by absentee ballot.

Sigfús Hjálmarsson, who heads the electoral commission of Mjóifjörður, took the ballot box across Mjóafjarðarheiði mountain and delivered it to the electoral commission of Fjarðabyggð, in rain and a temperature of 4 degrees C (39 degrees F).
