The City of Reykjavík will invest for more than ISK 14 billion (USD 126 million, EUR 114 million) next year, according to a press release.

Investments include road construction and repair.

New construction will include numerous projects, the largest of which is a new school and cultural center in Úlfarsárdalur. Klettaskóli school will be added on to, as will Vesturbæjarskóli school.

The most interesting sports facility project planned is an outdoor pool by Sundhöllin, which currently houses an indoor pool only.

Cultural investments include, among other things, an addition to the downtown Reykjavík City Library.

In terms of health service, a nursing home is planned on Sléttuvegur.

Finally, the renovation of Perlan (the Pearl) is on the city’s list of projects, due to plans for the building to house an exhibition on Icelandic nature.
