The Icelandic Met Office has issued a weather warning. Strong gale force winds, in excess of 20 m/sec, are expected in the south and west today, but in the north tomorrow evening. The strong southwest winds will be accompanied by snow showers or hail in the south and west. There will be poor visibility on mountain roads.
Tomorrow, we will see northerly winds picking up in the north, along with snow showers, but becoming fair in the south.
Tomorrow night, winds of 15-23 m/sec are forecast in the north, with considerable snow possible. Expect blizzard conditions in the north tomorrow and Thursday. Temperatures will range from 0˚ to 6˚ C (32˚ to 43˚ F) today, but will drop tomorrow.
The Icelandic Road Administration warns that roads in the west could easily become icy today, and numerous mountains roads all over the country already are snow-covered and icy.
