Flowers in November are a rare sight in Iceland. Therefore, a lawyer in Egilsstaðir saw reason to point out a blooming harebell to reporters yesterday, according to RÚV. The harebell (Campanula rotundifolia) is very common in East Iceland. The lawyer has admired the flower on his way to work in recent days, where it grew out of the wall of a house.
When looking at the weather forecast yesterday, he probably realized taking a picture of it had to be done now or never, because temperatures have dropped today and a snowstorm is moving into the area tomorrow. You can see its picture here. Until now, the winter has been unseasonably mild in east.
