If you have been to Iceland around Christmas time, you must have noticed the traditional leaf bread that accompanies every Christmas meal. Not only is it indispensable for its taste, but also for its decorative quality.

This Sunday, November 20, 1:30-4:30 pm, you will have a chance to learn the art of making just that. Margrét Sigfúsdóttir, principal of Hússtjórnarskólinn – a local school of Icelandic culinary arts and crafts – will be teaching guests the art of making this essential part of Icelandic Christmas on Viðey island, a short distance from Reykjavík.

Guests can take the ferry to the island from Reykjavík and spend the afternoon mastering their new skill.

The ferry leaves Skarfabakki pier at 13:15, 14:15, and 15:15.

The cost is ISK 2,000 (USD 18, EUR 16) for 10 pieces of leaf bread.
