The Icelandic Met Office has issued a severe gale warning (wind speeds in excess of 20 m/sec) by noon along the southeast coast and in the highlands.
Increasing east and northeast wind is expected this morning, reaching speeds of 15-23 m/sec by noon. The wind will be even stronger in the Öræfi region, Southeast Iceland, in the afternoon, including strong wind gusts near mountains.
Wind speeds of 13-20 m/sec are forecast in the northwest, but lighter wind in other areas of the country. There will be rain the most parts of the country today, but mostly dry in the west.
It will be less windy tonight and tomorrow, with considerable rain in the east. Northeast winds of 8-15 m/sec tomorrow night. Temperatures will range from 0˚ to 8˚C (32-46˚ F).
