If you don’t believe the headline, read on.

Iceland’s first baby of the year was born three minutes past midnight on January 1 at Selfoss Hospital, Southwest Iceland, Vísir reports. It so happens that the baby boy’s mother, Katrín Guðjónsdóttir, was the year’s first baby born in 1980. She, too, was born at the Selfoss Hospital. This is the couple’s third child. Mother and son are reportedly doing very well.

You can watch a video of them here.

The first baby born at Landspítali National University Hospital this year was a boy, delivered at 8:01 am on New Year’s Day. His birth was followed by that of another boy in Reykjavík at 9:20 am.
