The new Independence Party-Reform Party-Bright Future coalition government will be announced tomorrow and the new ministers formally take office on Wednesday. The government agenda is to be presented to the parties’ members tonight and made public tomorrow.

Independence Party leader Bjarni Benediktsson will be prime minister. It is uncertain who else from his party will take a seat in the cabinet, but Ólöf Nordal has been mentioned as one of the most likely candidates. The party will be responsible for five ministries, RÚV reports.

Benedikt Jóhannesson, Reform Party chair and former Iceland Review publisher, is expected to be finance minister. Former Minister of Education Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir and Þorsteinn Víglundsson are also likely to represent the party in government.

It is assumed that leader of Bright Future Óttarr Proppé will take over the Ministry of Health and that Björt Ólafsdóttir from his party will also become minister.

The number of ministries will remain ten in total. A representative of one of the parties will serve as speaker of parliament.
