According to RÚV, the Supreme Court of Iceland has confirmed the two-week police custody of the two suspects in the death of 20-year-old Birna Brjánsdóttir, granted by the Reykjanes District Court. Birna’s body was found yesterday on the south coast of Reykjanes Peninsula.
The two suspects are Greenlanders, who are crew members of the trawler Polar Nanoq.
The police had originally requested a four-week custody of the suspects, but when the district court only approved two weeks, that decision was appealed to the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court did, however, not agree with the police that the custody should be extended.
