Icelandic professional golfer Ólafía Þórunn Kristinsdóttir had a good start yesterday at the Pure Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic, on Paradise Island. She finished the first round two under par (71).
Ólafía made history in December when she became the first Icelander to qualify for the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour. The 24-year-old did so by finishing second at the LPGA Qualifying Tournament in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she completed the tournament’s five rounds at 12 under par. That accomplishment placed her among the world’s best female golfers.
You can see the Pure Silk Bahamas leaderboard here. Right now, she ranks 37-49th out of 108 contestants. The second round of the tournament is today.
