The electronic music festival Sónar Reykjavík 2017 opened yesterday at Harpa concert hall. The festival runs through Saturday night. More than 50 bands and artists will perform at four different stages, one of which is located in the Harpa parking garage, but the venue has room for up to 3,300 guests. Participating artists include both international ones and the most current ones from the Icelandic music scene. In the parking garage, international and Icelandic DJs will perform.

The Sónar festival originated in Barcelona in 1994, but has since been held in many parts of the world. According to Fréttablaðið, it is now held in six different cities: Barcelona, Hong Kong, Bogotá, Buenos Aires and Reykjavík.
