If you have a national costume, you’ll get a chance to use it on Sunday. The National Museum of Iceland on Hverfisgata, Reykjavík, hosts a National Costume Day at 2 pm on Sunday. Guests are encouraged to show up wearing the national costume of their country of origin. This is a great chance to use your costume and to be introduced to a diverse selection of costumes from a number of countries.
Members of the Reykjavík Folk Dance Association will perform and invite guests to a dance. National costumes by Helga Áslaug Þórarinsdóttir, who turns 90 this year, will be on display. Helga is well known among national costume enthusiasts. She is a long-time member of the Reykjavík Folk Dance Association and the Hand Crafts Association of Iceland.
