The Icelandic Met Office has issued a strong or violent gale warning (wind speeds in excess of 20 m/sec) for the West Fjords late tonight and for most parts of Iceland tomorrow.
Tonight, we can expect winds from the northeast to pick up and temperatures to drop. The forecast calls for a strong gale (wind speeds of 15-25 m/sec) in most parts of Iceland tomorrow, accompanied by sleet in the north and mostly by rain in the south. There will be snowfall in the mountains, resulting in limited visibility and rapidly deteriorating road conditions in mountain passes.
The precipitation will taper off tomorrow night. Tomorrow’s temperatures will range between 1 and 10°C (34°-50°F).
