The booking site Airbnb has continued to see a rise in popularity in Iceland alongside increased tourist demand. Vísir reports today that a rather unusual new kind of accommodation, located in the residential district of Grafarvogur in the eastern part of Reykjavík, is now available for booking.

To be more precise, the accommodation on offer is the trunk of a van. The going rate is a mere 21 British Pounds per night, approximately ISK 2,745. Camper vans have been commonly advertised on the website in Iceland, and it is usually the case that guests have the option of driving the vehicle around as well. These accommodations are different in that the vehicle may not be driven.

The amenities on offer are a mattress, an electrical outlet to charge your phone, and free wireless internet access. Should you require restroom access, there is a gas station a mere 500 m (547 yd) away. A few more rules apply, namely, no smoking, no pets, and no parties.
