A stretch of road, sunk underwater in the creation of a reservoir for the Búðarháls hydroelectric plant in southern Iceland, still appears on road maps sold around Iceland today, RÚV reports.

This past winter, unsuspecting tourists even drove out into the reservoir, having blindly followed directions from their GPS navigation device. The road in question has not existed for approximately four years. However, many GPS devices still require a software update to reflect the reality on the ground. Many recently published maps do not include the reservoir either. For extra safety, there are road signs nearby calling attention to the potential danger.
