Search resumed this morning for a man who fell into Gullfoss waterfall, South Iceland, between 4 and 5 pm yesterday, RÚV reports.
Eyewitnesses first saw the man in the river, above the upper waterfall, and then saw him reappear between the two waterfalls. He has not been seen since.
No one has reported the man missing, but police now believe they know his identity. A car parked in the parking lot near the waterfall got them on track. The man is believed to have been traveling alone. Foul play is not suspected.
Almost 150 rescue workers participated in yesterday’s search, as well as specialized river rescue workers and divers, using all available equipment: the Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter, drones and boats.
