Five Icelanders are competing at the Reebok CrossFit Games in Madison, Wisconsin, USA, RÚV reports. After the end of the first day, Björgvin Karl Guðmundsson holds fourth place in the male category, the highest position among the competing Icelanders. Katrín Tanja Davíðsdóttir is defending champion in the female category.

In the championship, 40 men and 40 women compete for the title of “Fittest on Earth”. It is worth noting that of this year’s female contestants, 10 percent are Icelandic.

Yesterday’s events included cycling, gymnastics, and Olympic-style weightlifting. After the first day of the games and three events, Björgvin Karl is the top Icelandic contestant in fourth place, Ragnheiður Sara is in 6th place, Katrín Tanja in 8th, Annie Mist in 10th and Þuríður Erla in 16th place.
