Ten individuals have been recognized as outstanding young Icelanders by JCI Iceland.
This is the 15th year the award is being presented and around 100 people were nominated by the public. Of the ten finalists, one will be chosen as Outstanding Young Icelander of 2017. The jury is comprised of Erlendur Steinn Guðnason, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, Rakel Garðarsdóttir, Svava Arnardóttir and Elizes Low.
The award ceremony will be held at the University of Reykjavik on August 28th, where President of Iceland Guðni Th. Jóhannesson will present the awards. The ceremony is open to the public.

Almar Blær Sigurjónsson, nominated for contributions and achievements in culture.
Aron Einar Gunnarsson, nominated for personal achievements in professional sports.
Áslaug Ýr Hjartardóttir, nominated for personal achievements.
Eva Dröfn Hassel Guðmundsdóttir, nominated for contributions to children's rights, world peace, and human rights.
Margrét Vilborg Bjarnadóttir, nominated for contributions to business, entrepreneurship and economics.
Martin Ingi Sigurðsson, nominated for research in medicine.
Sara Mansour, nominated for contributions to children's rights, world peace, and human rights.
Steinunn Ása Þorvaldsdóttir, nominated for contributions and achievements in culture.
Þórunn Ólafsdóttir, nominated for humanitarian and volunteer work.
Ævar Þór Benediktsson, nominated for leadership and achievements in education.
