The Icelandic Football Association (KSÍ) and EA Sports have reached an agreement to include the Icelandic men's national football team in the upcoming FIFA 18 video game.
Sena, the game's local publisher, has prepared a special cover with EA Sports for this occasion. It will be available exclusively for Icelandic stores.
KSÍ had previously declined EA Sport's offer to include the Icelandic team in last year's FIFA 17, due to EA offering a low price. Discussions had since been ongoing since late last year for the team's participation in this year's FIFA 18.
According to Guðni Bergsson, chairman of KSÍ, he is very happy about the national team appearing in this popular series.
"I am very happy with this result and I think it's good news for everyone who plays these games in Iceland, as well as abroad. I think it's positive in marketing terms for Icelandic football, fun for our supporters and the players themselves."
FIFA is among the world's most popular video game series, having sold over a hundred million copies worldwide. The latest game in the series, FIFA 18 arrives on September 29th.
