The 18th Iceland Airwaves music festival opens today in both Reykjavík and Akureyri, taking place until November 5th.
In addition to central Reykjavík, the festival will also open for the first time in the northern town of Akureyri. Both locations will feature a number of off-venue concerts.
Both visiting and local artists will be performing at the festival, which promises to keep with its world-class status, as well as promoting music both Icelandic and foreign.
Visiting artists include the Norwegian Sigrid, who's received positive reviews for her hit-single 'Don't Kill My Vibe', Seattle-based band Fleet Foxes, and Guernsey-based Mura Masa. Local artists include classic Airwaves performers GusGus and FM Belfast, as well as newcomers Cyber and the hot duo Jói Pjé x Króli, both of which are as old as the festival itself.
