Road 76 west of Siglufjörður fjord, North Iceland is closed indefinitely due to an avalanche, RÚV reports. Efforts are being made to clear the area and no casualties have been found.
The avalanche occurred along the coast just north of the fjord. According to Víglundur Rúnar Pétursson, chief foreman of The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration in Sauðárkrókur, the avalanche is quite big and has completely blocked the road.
There are no known casualties or damage to vehicles at this time.
