If you were born in Iceland during the last 10 years, your birthday is most likely in July, August, or September. Fifty years ago, you were almost equally likely to be born between March and October.
The study also found boys were twice as likely to inherit their father’s given name (11 percent) than girls were their mother's (5 percent). Your chances of having a family name (rather than the traditional patronymic or less common matronymic) are 3.8 percent if you are over 50 years old, but 3.2 percent if you are younger.
The most common names in Iceland are Jón, Guðmundur, and Sigurður for men and Guðrún, Anna, and Kristín for women.
The report can be found on the Statistics Iceland website.
