Canadian indie band Arcade Fire will hold a concert in Iceland this coming August, RÚV reports. It will be the band’s first performance in the country, though not for lack of previous efforts.

Þorsteinn Stephensen, CEO of event production company Hr. Örlygi, is behind the event. Þorsteinn has been trying to get the band to Iceland for more than a decade. “I think I first tried to book the band in 2002 or 2003 for [music festival Iceland] Airwaves, then we were in negotiations. Then they quickly became a band too big for Airwaves,” he remarked. Þorsteinn says efforts have been made yearly since then to get the band to Iceland, and are finally bearing fruit.

Arcade Fire was formed in 2001 by friends and classmates Win Butler and Josh Deu, and broke through upon the release of their first album, Funeral, in 2004. The Reykjavík performance will mark the end of the band’s European tour, and they are expected to stay in Iceland for a few days.

Tickets for the event go on sale Tuesday, 17 April.
