Increased Interest in Early Childhood Education Studies

Interest in early childhood education and teaching is on the rise in Iceland, RÚV reports. The Universities of Iceland and Akureyri have seen a dramatic uptick in applications to their respective programs, with an increase of roughly 60% at the University of Iceland since last year.

There were 78 applicants to the early childhood education program at the University of Iceland this year, compared to 48 in 2017. At the University of Akureyri, there were 132 applicants to the undergraduate program in education, as compared to 90 the year before.
