Plane Crashes into Ocean near Reykjavík

A small private plane crashed into the shallows off Mosfellsbær, a neighboring town of Reykjavík yesterday. The pilot, who was the only one onboard, managed to break out of the wreck and wade ashore. Two golfers, who witnessed the accident, came to his assistance.

Firefighters in Reykjavík were called out shortly before noon today because of a fire in an apartment in Mánatún in an apartment complex the center of the capital. A woman, who was alone in the apartment, was rescued and taken to the emergency room.
