Reykjavík Climate Walk Highlights Challenges

About 300 people gathered for the Loftslagsganga (‘Climate Walk’) in Reykjavík on Sunday. The walk was part of an initiative organized by the global movement Peoples Climate March, calling for the restriction of greenhouse gas emissions.

President of Iceland Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson and his spouse Dorrit Moussaieff are currently participating in the Clinton Global Initiative’s annual meeting. On Sunday, he took part in a debate on climate change and economic development at the New York Forum.

Warm Weather Forecast for Iceland in 2050

In 2050, Iceland will be warmer and may experience more rain than it does currently. With warmer weather, areas where forest may grow will be larger. The UN Climate Week is currently taking place in New York, where Birta Líf of the Icelandic Met Office will represent Iceland.
