Thirteen MPs have put forth a bill proposing a bike path between Reykjavík and Keflavík International Airport.
The City of Reykjavík will lend 100 individuals electric bicycles this summer in order to encourage environmentally friendly commuting.
Fatal and serious traffic accidents in the first ten months of this year were fewer than during the same period in recent years.
In total about 83 percent of Reykjavík residents drive to work, while less than 25 percent use public transportation, according to a recent Eurostat report.
Svanur Þorsteinsson visits Sunnuhlíð retirement home three times a week to offer residents rides in a special wagon which attaches to his bike.
