Considerable danger of avalanches in East Iceland has led to evacuations in the town of Seyðisfjörður.
Weather across South Iceland was extreme this morning, with wind speeds reaching 65 metres (213 feet) per second by Hvassafell mountain.
Passengers aboard nine airplanes that landed at Keflavík International Airport around 9 o’clock this morning are stuck in their seats due to weather.
The Icelandic Met Office has issued an orange warning for the capital area, as extreme weather has hit Iceland. Winds have reached up to 45 metres per second in some areas. Further extreme weather is expected in the next days.
