Students at the Iceland Academy of the Arts are refusing to pay tuition fees in protest against poor facilities and worsening service at the school.


Mackerel Petition Fifth Largest in Iceland

A total of 51,296 signed a petition protesting Minister of Fisheries Sigurður Ingi Jóhannsson’s bill on the distribution of the mackerel fishing quota, which makes it the fifth largest petition in Iceland’s history. The collection of signatures concluded at midnight.

Pirates Protest Destruction of Furniture

Representatives of the Pirate Party protested yesterday the destruction of furniture which have been used in Reykjavík City Hall for years. It turned out that the furniture which the city had bought in good faith were replicas of Cassina sofas designed by Le Corbusier.
