Q: I heard that a similar statue of Icelandic children’s book author Nonni (Jón Sveinsson, or Svensson) as that by Nína Sæmundsson which stands in front of Nonni’s House in Akureyri (now a museum dedicated to his life and work), is to be placed in Reykjavík.
I would like to know where and when that will happen.

A: According to Svanhildur Konráðsdóttir, manager of the culture and tourism division of the City of Reykjavík, there are no plans for putting up a statue of Nonni in in the capital. It is possible that such an initiative is being planned by private parties, but if so, it hasn’t been discussed with city authorities.
