Q: More than 25 years ago, I bought a graphic by Ragnheiður Jónsdóttir in the Iceland Gallery in The Hague. The gallery was owned by Olav Fekkes.
Now I want to sell the piece, which is number 19/60 and most likely made in 1987.
Do you have any idea how best to do that and at what price?
Thank you very much in advance.
Jacqueline, the Netherlands
A: According to a gallery owner in Reykjavík, familiar with the work, selling graphics can be difficult, since they’re no longer in fashion in Iceland. The market for those apparently plummeted in 1995. He estimates the market price of your piece in Iceland could be anywhere from ISK 35,000 to ISK 50,000 (USD 230-383, EUR 211-353). Your best bet for selling it would be to send it to Gallerí Fold on Rauðarárstígur 12-14, Reykjavík, and have it auctioned there.
