One in every eight people trying to get to Italy from the failed state of Libya last week drowned.
A total of 13,500 made it, 1,600 are feared to have died.
The BBC reported earlier today that at least 1.5 million people have arrived in Libya to try their luck at crossing the Mediterranean for a new and better life in Europe. Hopefully the Icelandic government will allow some of them to stay in Iceland.
Most of those waiting to make the crossing are from Eritrea, Sudan, Somalia and Syria.
With the same success rate as last week 178,000 people will lose their lives over the next coming months.
It can not be allowed to happen.
