Tourism Generates ISK 27 Billion in Tax Revenue for Iceland

Tax revenue generated from tourism in Iceland is estimated to total ISK 27 billion (USD 225 million, EUR 168 million) this year, in addition to various special fees and customs duties, according to the latest report on the financing of development and maintenance of tourist attractions from the Icelandic Tourist Board.

The Icelandic Travel Industry Association (SAF) argues that not enough has been done in the way of development and maintenance and urges the government to do more. The association argues that given the rapid growth in tourists to Iceland, corresponding growth in the necessary infrastructure also needs to take place, ruv.is reports.
