Of the 49.8 percent who said they were pleased with the system, six percent said they were very happy or quite happy. At the same time, 29 percent said they were not happy and 20 percent said they were neither happy nor unhappy, ruv.is reports.

Those in the youngest group polled, aged between 18 and 24, were less happy with the Icelandic school system than older respondents while women were more satisfied than men.

The poll was conducted October 17-24. A total of 1,450 people 18-years and over from around the country were polled. The response rate was 60.7 percent.
