Overnight Stays in Hotels up 13 Percent

The number of guest nights at hotels in Iceland increased by 13 percent in the first ten months of this year compared with the same period in 2012. Nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 13 percent while national guest nights increased by 11 percent, according to the latest data from Statistics Iceland.

The data only includes overnight stays in hotels that operate year-round meaning that guesthouses and summer hotels are not included.

More than 750,000 tourists are expected to visit Iceland this year, a new record.
